These fit wonderfully and are very comfortable, but this is the first Ami style of NYDJ that have no pockets at allMind the size chart! Definitely size down as instructed. I've gained a little weight and I'm probably at the upper end of size 12 right now -- I sized down to a 10 and the fit is great.I have an hourglass shape but carry some pudge at the bottom of my belly, so normally high rise jeans look awful on me and create a front butt situation... no one wants that. These jeans come up to my natural waist like a traditional high rise jean and they suck everything firmly IN. The bottom of my belly disappeared into my body when I zipped them up, and my butt looked great in them. These are just extremely flattering and I'm only sorry I haven't tried NYDJ sooner. The fit through the legs is nice and skinny down to the ankles. i was a little worried the ankles would be too wide, but nope. Length is good too. I'm 5'8" with a long torso and not so long legs, and these jeans are a good length to wear with either heels or flats. Very happy with them, and even more happy with the price on Amazon. My one complaint is that in person the color of the jeans is the tiniest bit darker than on the screen, but it's also more uniform all over the jeans which I prefer. I would call this a medium denim. Will be really nice in the Spring, but can also be worn year around. You can't go wrong with these!I'm a fan of NYDJ jeans and have this same Ami style in a 16W in their Sure Stretch fabric and they're big on me. So I purchased these in a 16 thinking they would fit - I'm currently trying to lose several sizes after a surprise, VERY late in life pregnancy (happiest surprise ever and my daughter is perfect but it did a real number on my body! Ha ha!) so I'm wearing a 16 or 18 in most brands now. The NYDJ Ami Super Skinny pair I have in a 16W are the comfiest jeans I've ever owned in my entire life, and super chic looking! These, however, didn't fit me at all. I literally couldn't get them pulled up past my knees! Huh? Even if these are a size too small you'd think I could get them pulled up over my calves. I have zero shame so I'd admit it if I had big calves. I don't. I've got plenty of pairs of too small jeans (pre-pregnancy I'm a size 12) and I can get even the skinniest of those on that far! I'm dealing w/ pregnancy weight gain so it's almost all in my belly w/ some in the hips and backside. Honestly, I'd exchange these for an 18 but I'm too freaked out by the calf issue!Aside from the crazy fit issue, these look cute. Lovely, durable NYDJ fabric and quality. Since I can't get them on I can't comment on cut or fit, aside from what I've said already.Bottom line: if you're wearing a "plus size" or are curvy, or have muscular calves these might not be a great choice for you. However, the NYDJ Ami Super Skinny style in a plus size (meaning their W size range) in the Sure Stretch fabric are absolutely fantastic! Best. Jeans. Ever. And DO size down with those. These jeans are cut far differently than those - so if you're thinking that these are sized/cut the same as those, they absolutely AREN'T. Returning these, sadly.Out of all my NYDJ jeans, the Ami (Alchemy wash) is my favorite fit. It's figure hugging, but in a good way that smoothes things out and doesn't cause unruly squishing above and below the waistband. The labels and descriptions are often confusing on different NYDJ styles---mine are marked "future fit denim" and I'm not sure if that's different from the regular Ami denim.FYI---the Alchemy wash is a lot less "worn" than I thought. There is barely any whiskering to speak of---it shows up in the product photo more than it does in real life. The Ami is the skinniest fit I own so far--they fit like leggings all the way down to the ankle. However, unlike the colored NYDJ denim, which is thinner and clingier, they don't give you the dreaded camel toe, so you can safely tuck your shirt in!I typically wear a size 14 and I have wide legs but not particularly large hips. My waist generally measures in around 35 inches which according to the size chart puts me in like an NYDJ size 16 which apparently is the equivalent to 18 in standard sizes which cannot be right. I ordered the 14 instead of going down a size and they fit very well in the legs but are loose in the tummy which I'm guessing will continue to stretch out and get saggy so I'm kicking myself now. I should have ordered down a size like they suggested despite the listed measurements. They have a nice stretch but are a firm stretch which is what I like. Also, the label says they are made in the US which is always a pleasant perk!Great fit! However, I feel unfortunately the jean sizing challenge extends to all makers. Beyond frustrating and most times demoralizing. These jeans are comfortable, semi slimming and are of quality material.. which they should be for the price. Size? Well, they tell you to order a size smaller than you generally do with other brands however.... in woman's Levis I take a 12 but I ordered a 12 in NYDJ on 'a feeling' and they fit perfect but here's the rub... I have small thighs and skinny legs and they are snug. I'm really happy with these but be careful of the size promise.I bought these a size bigger just to be safe the fit is nice not to lose as to fall off or look baggy they fit very nice. I only gave four stars, I assumed they would have a bright shine to them and they don't. The material has a very nice feel to them they are a muted dusty rose in my opinion. Not to say they don't stand out there definitely eye catchers I'd recommend them to others.Let me count the ways...This is my first pair of NYDJ jeans, but definitely not my last! Here are the things I love about these jeans:* the fit is perfect - especially thigh-to-waist ratio - I appreciate that the waist is cut for a more mature figure with a few extra curves* they're still sexy!* they don't stretch out as the day goes on - no constant tugging as I walk!* the color is cool* very nice qualityAnd yes, I went a size down as instructed (though I was skeptical), no problemo! These jeans are, in a word, awesome!Light weight and comfortable. Great fit. Perfect for a mature figure. Love the higher rise and overall slimming effect.
